The first stocking of channel catfish was on March 14 - we stocked about 375 fish that averaged just slightly under a pound each. There was quite a variety of sizes - some 3 pounders and some less than 1/2 pound. The second stocking was on April 27 when we stocked 320 fish that averaged about 1.3 pounds each - nice fish!!! The third stocking was on May 25 when we stocked about 550 fish that averages .81 pounds each. June 30 we stocked another 539 fish that average just slightly over .75 ponds each. The July 15 stocking consisted of 525 channels that averaged about .80 of a pound. The stocking in August was 410 catfish averaging right at a pound each - on August 12!!!. This will be the last catfish stocking of the summer and the trout are scheduled around October 15 if the water cools down by then. We stocked 114 largemouth bass and about 40 BIG bluegill on August 29 - most of the bass were 10 to 15 inches.
Another little side note - I am retiring after 38 years with the department - last day will be September 16. It may take some time for a replacement to take over so not real sure how well this report will be updated this fall. It appears that John Reinke from Milford will be taking over in the interim. Be patient with us!!!!! I want to say that I have enjoyed working with all you anglers out there - now I plan to be joining you a little more often.
