Prairie Dog State Park News
2012 Special Events--March 31, free entry and park open house. This is your last chance to take advantage of the off season pricing for permits. We will also have the cabins open for tours. June 2--annual OK Kids Day and free entry. OK Kids Day events to include fishing, archery, trap shooting, jet ski simulator, hunting/shooting simulator, KDWPT K9 demonstration, reptile exhibit and a free lunch. We are currently in the planning stages and more events will be added.
The park has been winterized for the year. This means there is no running water available at the camp sites and the shower houses have been closed for the winter season. The vault toilets will remain open and the electricity is still on at the camp sites. The fish cleaning station has also been closed for the year. This doesn't affect the modern cabins as they are on a separate water supply. There is NO HUNTING ALLOWED in the State Park. Please feel free to contact the office with any questions.
The Park office is now open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. All Licenses and Permits can be purchased online through KDWPT.

We are in the process of setting new posts at various camp sites throughout the park. This is being done for the new ORMS system that will come online in 2012. More information will be provided once we know the date it will be started.
Major upcoming projects include the installation of playground equipment and continue working on the landscaping around the two new modern cabins. As the projects proceed, we will keep you updated. Update--the playground was installed and we are currently working on the area surrounding the equipment to provide a shade shelter, parking, etc.
Don't forget that sites #31-40 are "Prime sites" and a $2.50 fee will be charged in addition to your regular camping fees for those sites during the prime season (April-September). Please remember that camping fees are per camping unit and not per site.
Prairie Dog State Park also has four cabins available. Cedar Crest and Cottonwood are primitive cabins while Prairie Dog and Eagle View are modern cabins with running water. Call for a reservation, or reserve a cabin on our website! All cabins have heating and air conditioning, a refrigerator and a microwave.
Please remember to always wear your life jacket when you're on the water, it could save your life. The current water elevation is 2299.48, or 4.82 feet below conservation pool.
