Waterfowl Numbers

5000 ducks (mostly mallards) and 1000 canada geese were seen on or around the reservoir.

Mallard Migration Rating

Current Rating= 7 The rank is subjective and is from (0= No Mallards, 1=Very few Mallards, 5=Moderate numbers, 10= Peak numbers).

Water level

Lake level is currently 1347.83 (Conservation pool is 1350.50)

Hunting conditions

Hunting conditions are fair. 99% open water as of now. Water edge is a good distance from normal shoreline making hunting from shoreline blind difficult.

Expected hunting success

Hunting success is fair-good.

Comments

Remember the Reservoir now has ZEBRA MUSSELS. Make sure to Clean, Drain and Dry your equipment. Clean all visible vegetation and mud from decoys, bags, waders, etc. Drain water from decoy bags and boats. Allow equipment to Dry for a five day period before using it at another area, OR wash with high-pressure hot water.

Marion Reservoir Waterfowl Seasons

-Low Plains Late Duck Zone is open October 29th-January 1st. It opens again January 21st-January 29th.

-Light and Canada Goose season runs October 29th-November 6th. It opens again November 9th-February 12th.

-White-Fronted Goose season runs October 29th-January 1st. It opens again February 4th-February12th.
