2012 Dove Management Area at Jamestown Wildlife Area

The Sunflowers sprouted late due to the drought and dove use should improve throughout the season as the plants ripen.

Doves are also attracted to the shallow water areas found on the area.

A 240-acre dove hunting area (#1) has been created north along Vale Road between 30th and 40th Rds. Eighteen acres of Sunflowers will be manipulated. This area will be posted Open to Youth & Novice / Mentor hunters only for the first 2 days of the season (Sept. 1 & 2). Youth/Novice hunters must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older who may hunt this area as long as they have at least 1 youth or novice hunter with them. Novice hunters are those hunters 17 or younger or any person who has not hunted doves before. The entire 240-acre area will open to all hunters on September 3.

Field #2 - 7 acre Sunflower field - From the intersection of 10

Rd and Hwy. 28, ½ mile north on the Gun Club Southwest Access road. Open to all hunters for the entire season.

Field #3 - Wheat field will be manipulated by mowing or burning. Located south of Republic Rd. between 30

Rd on the east side of Gun Club Marsh

Field #4 - Wheat field will be manipulated by mowing or burning. Located west of 30

Rd between Vale Rd. and Wagon Road on the east side of Marsh Creek Marsh.

Mandatory Daily Hunter Survey permits are required and are available at the Information Centers.
