Black Bass

1 to 5 pounds

Nice numbers of smallmouth bass and a low level largemouth bass population. The dam and along the East bank are the best places for smallmouth.

Crappie

Slow

1/2 to 2 pounds

Overall sample numbers are below average for the lake. There is a brush pile just South of the fishing dock.

Channel Catfish

Fair

1/2 to 6 pounds

Fishing for catfish has been productive near the fish feeder and at the West end of the dam.

Walleye

Fair

1 to 5 pounds

Walleye are in less than 10 feet of water hitting worms or crankbaits. Walleye regulations are 2 a day and a 15 inch lenght limit.

White Bass

Good

1/2 to 2 pounds

Lots of 12 inch white bass at the lake.

Wipers

Good

1 to 12 pounds

The lake has good numbers of 16-22" wipers with a few bigger ones around. The daily creel limit for wipers is 2. They have been busting the surface chasing shad.

General Comments

Anglers need to check into the Jeffrey Energy Center Guard House located north of St. Mary's, then west off K-63 Hwy. The Jeffrey Energy Center allows 30 anglers to fish at any one time. If the inlet is flowing, then good fishing can be found there. As of June 11th, the lake was full and the boat ramp was usable.

Zebra mussels were found at Make-Up Lake. Please CLEAN, DRAIN & DRY all equipment when changing water bodies.

Up to 5 lbs

The lake has an excellent smallmouth bass population. They can be found along any of the rocky shoreline. Catch and release fishing has been good!

White Bass

Good

Up to 2 lbs

Good numbers of 12" to 16" white bass this year.

Wiper

Fair

Up to 10 lbs

A nice population of wipers with most of them around 24".

Walleye

Fair

Up to 6 lbs

Some are being caught on nightcrawlers around the island, main points and the South end of the dam. Walleye regulations are 2 fish a day over 15".

Crappie

Poor

Up to 1.5 lbs

Current crappie numbers are low.

Channel Catfish

Fair to Good

Up to 12 lbs

Cats have been shallow and feeding up. Commercial baits or cut-bait near the feeder, the island or the cove just North of the boat ramp. The lake has a decent catfish population, with most of them from 21" to 25".
