Lake levels vary some but normally are at conservation pool. There are three boat ramps in the main lake and one boat ramp in the cooling pool on the east side of the project. Two of these ramps are inside the Linn County Park and one ramp is maintained by KDWP. Usability is determined by the weather. For winter time ramp conditions call the Linn County Park at 913-757-6633. With cold weather anglers can always use the walk-in area on the east side of the lake. This trail provides access to the hot water outlet into the lake. In cold weather this is one of the premier angling spots. The warm water produced by the KCP&L Plant attracts quantities of bait fish and predators of all kinds. Best baits are shad imitations.

General Comments

Water temperatures are cooling off. Fishing at La Cygne produces a mixed bag of fish from big blue or flathead catfish, to white bass and wipers or crappie and largemouth bass. Anglers can walk in to the hot water outlet area from the east parking lot. The location is: at 69 HWY and Ks HWY 152, go east on E.2200 Rd., turn north at Young Rd. and go West at E. 2400 Rd. to the parking lot. Unload gear and walk west down the trail to where the hot water from the power plan empties into the lake.
